About the Role

Mayo Clinic is seeking an Associate Information Security Engineer to join their Office of Information Security (OIS). This role involves supporting users in security matters, conducting technical analysis of malicious activity, and contributing to SOC documentation. You will be instrumental in implementing system security solutions, researching, configuring, and administering systems to protect information across Mayo Clinic's computing environments. Additionally, you'll provide basic security design assistance and consultation for various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support users in security matters and conduct moderately complex technical analysis.
  • Follow procedures to contain, analyze, and eliminate malicious activity.
  • Collaborate with other OIS units to meet objectives.
  • Develop and maintain SOC documentation.
  • Research, configure, and administer systems and procedures for information protection.
  • Provide basic security design assistance and consultation for projects.
  • Work within multi-vendor environments implementing system security solutions.
  • Receive direct supervision and guidance from Information Security Directors and Engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related major, OR High School diploma with three (3) years of experience in information security.
  • Basic experience with security analysis and penetration studies for client/server systems and networks.
  • Basic understanding of security controls for network, application, and operating systems.
  • Work experience with logical access controls to ensure confidentiality.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Capacity to work independently and willingness to seek advice/assistance.
  • Completion of Office of Information Security Training curriculum within one year is required.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Rochester, MN. While the work is primarily remote, there may be times when you are required to be on campus. Therefore, you must live within a reasonable driving distance of a Mayo Clinic campus.
