Overview
Mayer Brown, an international law firm, is seeking a Knowledge Counsel – Corporate to join its Knowledge Management department in the London office. The role is ideal for an experienced corporate lawyer or a senior fee-earner with a strong track record in knowledge management.
Hours & Reporting
Standard hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm with flexibility and can be full time or part time (minimum 21 hours per week). The role reports to the Director of Knowledge Management (Europe & Asia) and indirectly to the global Senior Director of Knowledge Management, while working closely with the London Corporate & Securities team.
Department & Team
The Corporate & Securities Knowledge Management team is integrated globally, comprising more than 26 Knowledge Counsel/Lawyers, Knowledge Specialists and Executives. The team focuses on capturing, curating, and disseminating legal and commercial knowledge across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge Management Strategy: Lead and advise on KM strategy, communicating clearly with partners and fee-earners.
- Legal Knowledge: Maintain and update legal resources, standard forms, and precedents while advising on legal queries.
- Lawyer Training and Technical Expertise: Collaborate to develop and deliver practice-related training and materials.
- Client-Facing Initiatives: Monitor legal/market trends and create client alerts, thought leadership, and knowledge products.
- Innovation & Technology: Implement legal technology and process improvements in collaboration with legal tech teams.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in KM meetings, develop internal relationships, and support additional knowledge initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience. A strong academic background with at least a 2.1 law degree from a reputed institution is required.
