Role Overview
The Protocol Security Engineer role blends hands-on security work with the opportunity to influence protocol security from the earliest stages of development. You will safeguard key components such as smart contracts, ZK circuits, and blockchain nodes while keeping up with security research and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct threat modeling and internal reviews of Solidity contracts and blockchain state transition functions (Rust).
- Track industry hacks, exploits, and attack vectors, translating findings into security improvements.
- Embed security best practices across teams and influence secure design.
- Take ownership of protocol components with focus on secure architecture and implementation.
- Participate in security investigations and incident response under high-pressure conditions.
What We’re Looking For
- A curiosity and hacker mindset to understand system vulnerabilities.
- Strong security instincts and anticipation of adversarial behaviors.
- Familiarity with recent security incidents in the blockchain space and relevant prevention techniques.
- Practical experience with Solidity smart contracts, ZK circuits, or core blockchain protocols.
- Proficiency in strongly typed languages (e.g., C++, Scala, Go) with emphasis on Rust and Solidity.
- Deep understanding of algorithms and data structures.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
