Overview

The Builder Enablement Program at Mastercard is seeking experienced Senior Kubernetes Platform Automation SRE Engineers to operate a new on-premises Kubernetes capability, specifically using OpenShift. This Kubernetes platform will be rolled out globally across Mastercard, supporting tens of thousands of critical workloads. Key responsibilities include monitoring, operating, investigating, and continually improving this fully automated platform.

Role Responsibilities

• Implement IT initiatives to support and improve operational efficiency.
• Drive automation, enhance cost-effectiveness, and achieve operational excellence.
• Champion technology innovation and change across the business.
• Work with innovation stakeholders to foster a culture of collaboration.
• Implement Kubernetes within an organization with proficiency in infrastructure/platform automation.
• Evangelize automation and Kubernetes best practices across the organization.
• Focus on service reliability, meeting SLAs and efficiency targets.
• Provide support for high-availability, agile, scalable, and efficient solutions.

Key Collaborations and Activities

• Working with Agile frameworks.
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Engaging with Infrastructure and Network technologies.
• Orchestrating the build and deployment of containerized environments.
• Building and maintaining virtualization automation, monitoring, and reporting tools.
• Troubleshooting, resolving, and assisting in complex environmental issue resolution.
• Participating in automation initiatives to drive change and efficiencies.
• Mentoring and sharing knowledge with team members through retros, planning meetings, and daily standups.

About You

• 3+ years experience building and operating on-premises Kubernetes, ideally OpenShift.
• CKA, CKAD, or CKS certifications are a significant plus.
• Solid infrastructure experience including networking, storage, and compute (ideally VMWare).
• Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, plan, and control several concurrent initiatives with conflicting needs.
• Proven track record of successful delivery in a large enterprise environment.
• Familiarity or working knowledge of public cloud patterns (AWS/EKS, Azure/AKS).
• Proficiency with container tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with pipeline tools (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of ancillary tools (Artifactory, Hashicorp Vault).
• Competence in logging and monitoring tools (Loki, ELK, Prometheus, Kibana, Splunk, Dynatrace).
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
