The Advisors & Consulting Services team at Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. This team combines traditional management consulting with Mastercard’s rich data assets, proprietary platforms, and technologies to provide clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations. Our teams work with a diverse global customer base across industries, from banking and payments to retail and restaurants.
The Advisors & Consulting Services group has five specializations: Strategy & Transformation, Performance Analytics, Business Experimentation, Marketing, and Program Management. As a Managing Consultant, Technical Program Management, you will lead clients through business transformations by implementing strategically important Mastercard assets and services to bring value and drive growth. You will serve as the Center of Engagement across all stakeholders within Mastercard and the client’s organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
You will manage a portfolio of technical staffing projects that support implementations, technical strategies, or initiatives with significant impact on the organization. This involves managing projects from the technical and resource scoping phase through to delivery. Focusing on complexity and inherent risks across a wide range of business areas with strong interdependencies, you will manage activities from initial identification and definition through to the eventual realization and achievement of measurable improvements.
About The Team
Mastercard Deploy is Mastercard’s end-to-end implementation and program management consulting capability. It helps clients launch, operate, and scale digital products and platforms by combining technical solutioning, program management, and digital enablement expertise. It delivers full stack execution support including MVP builds, mobile app and platform integrations, governance and stakeholder alignment, on-site specialist resources, and enablement across domains such as Open Finance, Digital Banking, Real Time Payments, and Embedded Finance. This team provides holistic implementation, co-development, and launch support, integrating Mastercard products, accelerating time to market through proven frameworks, and supplying specialized technical teams.
Client Impact
- Lead client engagements and workstreams for large enterprise-level programs across various industries and cultures.
- Drive the technical scoping and framing of project opportunities based on client requirements.
- Promote proven project and change management methodologies to help clients achieve measurable value.
- Mitigate risks, solve issues, and ensure plans align with agreed timescales, budgets, and quality criteria.
- Identify new technical support opportunities, communicate with account leads, and lead sales calls and client development.
- Own key relationships with mid-level to senior client stakeholders, independently assessing client agenda and change readiness.
Team Collaboration & Culture
- Lead teams to creative insights and sound business recommendations, delivering impactful presentations while developing team members’ skills.
- Provide expertise and day-to-day project delivery team leadership, supporting solution evolution with innovation and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Manage relationships with internal Mastercard leadership and stakeholders, building the firm's intellectual capital.
- Effectively leverage subject matter experts to develop customized solutions.
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentorship to junior team members, including performance evaluation and feedback.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with work experience in project management and change management methodologies.
- 6+ years of Technical Project Management experience.
- Exposure to financial institutions, payments, and/or consultancies.
- Experience coaching and managing teams across multiple projects or engagements with third parties.
- Experience managing key client relationships.
- Knowledge of business KPIs, financials, and organizational leadership.
- Ability to provide perspective on industry and marketplace.
- Logical, structured thinking.
- Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the local office language (if applicable).
- Eligibility to work in the country where you are applying, as well as apply for travel visas as required.
- Ability to travel to client sites on a semi-regular basis.
Differentiating Qualifications
- Strong Technical and Delivery Expertise: Ability to translate product requirements into technical solutions, support full-stack delivery, and work across distributed engineering squads. Experience managing contingent workforce programs and optimizing partnerships with third-party staffing vendors.
- Client-Facing Consulting and Stakeholder Management Skills: Acting as a single point of contact for technical issues, vendor coordination, and escalation paths, while maintaining strong communication with internal Mastercard groups.
- Experience Working in Agile, Multi-Team Environments: Work effectively within iterative delivery frameworks and collaborate with product owners, business analysts, developers, and QA counterparts to ensure cohesive delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading development and implementation of technical solutions and measuring client impact.
- Experience as a software developer in the finance or any other well-regulated industry is a plus.
- Completed or interested in pursuing recognized professional accreditation, such as Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Knowledge of Project Management tools.
- Exposure to payments and/or retail banking or merchants.
- Experience generating new knowledge or creating innovative solutions for a firm.
