Overview
Mastercard is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Tax to lead our global tax strategy. In this role, you will provide proactive guidance on domestic and international tax matters, support strategic tax planning, manage tax risk and collaborate on M&A integration, and tax advisory activities. You will work with business leaders on key initiatives including mergers and acquisitions execution and post-acquisition integration matters.
Tax Strategy & Planning
Implement federal, state, and international tax strategies that align with Mastercard’s long-term business and financial objectives. Conduct research and advise on potential tax implications of strategic decisions and new initiatives while monitoring emerging tax legislation and policy.
M&A and Integration
Partner with cross-functional teams for tax due diligence during mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures, and support post-acquisition integration by aligning acquired businesses with Mastercard’s tax policies.
Tax Advisory & Incentives
Monitor eligibility and manage compliance for various federal, state, and international tax credits and incentives. Serve as a trusted advisor by offering technical support for filing positions and documenting conclusions.
Tax Controversy & Risk Management
Manage tax controversy matters, support audit responses, and implement risk management processes as part of integration initiatives.
All About You
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in Taxation and strong experience in corporate taxation including U.S. and international matters. Prior experience within a Big 4 accounting firm, law firm, or corporate tax department is preferred. Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and project management skills are essential. This role requires the ability to simplify technical tax issues into clear, business-oriented advice for senior leadership.

Compensation & Benefits
The role offers a competitive base salary and eligibility for bonuses, along with a comprehensive benefits package including insurance, paid leaves, 401k, and more. Pay ranges vary by location:
- Purchase, New York: $159,000 - $254,000 USD
- Miami, Florida: $138,000 - $221,000 USD
