Job Description
VP, Head of Operational Risk, Corporate & Investment Banking Group
As the VP, Head of Operational Risk, Corporate & Investment Banking Group, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing risk management strategies for MashreqBank's Corporate and Investment Banking Group (CIBG). Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks across the bank's business lines, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement in risk management practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust operational risk management frameworks and policies tailored for the CIBG.
- Lead the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of operational risks across all CIBG activities.
- Ensure full compliance with local and international regulatory requirements pertaining to operational risk.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk awareness and foster a strong risk culture within the CIBG.
- Oversee the execution of risk control self-assessments (RCSAs) and key risk indicator (KRI) reporting.
- Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in operational risk processes and tools.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on operational risk matters to senior management and relevant committees.
- Manage and mentor a team of risk professionals, promoting their development and performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operational risk management within a financial institution, with significant exposure to Corporate and Investment Banking.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing risk frameworks.
- Deep understanding of banking operations, products, and regulatory landscape.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Professional certifications in risk management (e.g., FRM, PRM) are highly desirable.
- Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
