Technology Portfolio Analyst at Marsh Risk

Technology Portfolio Analysts (TPAs) are senior-level analysts tasked with evaluating new technology opportunities and strategic initiatives. This role involves creating wireframes and mock-ups to validate strategic vision, comparing solution options to identify the best business fit, and defining the functional design of application solutions to ensure they deliver significant business value.

TPAs are central to producing solution proposals by collaborating with diverse teams. This includes engaging with business stakeholders to grasp domain context and current business needs, working alongside Technical Product Managers (TPMs) and Product Owners (POs) to pinpoint technology solutions for new business opportunities, platform upgrades, or aggregations. Collaboration also extends to Development team POD Leadership Teams for delivery estimates, Architects to ensure alignment with MMC technology strategy, and CapEx Coordinators, ePMO, and Product Council leaders for quarterly CapEx assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Technology Assessment and Estimation process for all net new initiatives and major enhancements to existing products.
  • Produce comprehensive summary outputs and status updates on the Technology CapEx Assessments.
  • Provide insightful reports to senior leadership, facilitating strategic decision-making.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions to gather precise requirements from business stakeholders and product owners.
  • Unite colleagues from global business and technology teams to foster a shared understanding of project requirements and ensure solutions meet specified needs.
  • Offer expert analysis to guarantee consistent conversion of business requirements into solutions composed of epics and features, while considering technical constraints and existing architecture.
  • Collaborate closely with leaders in the delivery team to keep the Pod informed of upcoming new business demand through the Assessments Process.
  • Continuously enhance the process through increased efficiency in requirement gathering.
  • Ensure adherence to analysis standards and processes throughout assessments and requirements gathering.
  • Ensure compliance with MMC and Mercer’s technical and security standards during solution design.
  • Support TPMs in the evaluation of RFP responses from vendors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering IT projects using Agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to break down complex business requirements into functional epics and features.
  • Extensive experience collaborating effectively with business stakeholders and technology teams.
  • Proficiency in evaluating business needs and identifying appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Proven capability to produce high-quality documentation that is clear, concise, and relevant.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend new business domains or technology environments, particularly in the context of rapidly evolving AI technologies and solutions.
  • Openness to change and the agility to pivot to meet a variety of different demands.
  • Strong conceptual thinking skills, including the ability to identify commonalities across disparate systems.
  • An appreciation for how technical and functional solutions can be combined to provide a complete fit for customers’ requirements.
  • Structured thinking, strong judgment, and excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of the underlying technology concepts required to deliver end-to-end client solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet tight deadlines, with proven planning and organizational skills.
  • Experience participating in full lifecycle development on large projects (teams of more than 15 people and duration longer than 6 months).
  • Domain knowledge in at least one of the following sectors: Health, Wealth, or Career.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in creating process flows using Visio.
  • Experience building product wireframes with Figma.
  • Ability to build advanced formulas in Excel.
  • Skill in framing a narrative creatively in PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Mural or other collaborative platforms.
  • Competency in using PowerBI or other BI tools to combine and visualize data from different sources.
