About the role

About the Marine Nationale

On all oceans and seas worldwide, 365 days a year and 24 hours a day, sailors ensure the security and protection of French maritime space. At sea, on land, and in the air, 40,000 sailors mobilize to accomplish intelligence, prevention, intervention, protection, and deterrence missions.

Role Environment

The Marseille Firefighters Battalion (BMPM) is the largest unit of the Navy in terms of personnel. Placed under the authority of the Mayor of Marseille, it has a wide range of civil security missions covering the territory of Marseille, the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille (GPMM), and Marseille Provence Airport (AMP).

The Training Center for Firefighting Techniques and Survival (CETIS), a component of the training division, is responsible for training and preparing all BMPM personnel in the specificities of urban fires, fires in maritime environments, and survival at sea. CETIS also participates in initial training for EMPM personnel.

It provides training in onboard ship and boat intervention (IBNB) to all firefighter and SDIS firefighter pathways. In addition to this activity and within the framework of its firefighting expertise, CETIS also provides safety training for personnel from shipping companies and private companies.

Our training organization aims to train personnel by applying the pedagogical resources adapted and necessary for the proper conduct of learning activities. To be effective in its training actions, CETIS has implemented a general organization that aims to radiate the unit's excellence both internally and externally.
