About the role
About Us
Marble is building an AI-powered tax assistant and preparation platform that transforms how accounting firms and their clients handle taxes. We’re targeting the pain points of mid-to-large size accounting firms with intelligent tools designed to streamline complex tax workflows. We’re early stage, highly collaborative, and deeply focused on solving real, high-impact problems for our customers.
About The Role
We’re hiring a Platform Engineer to continue building and scaling the infrastructure that powers our AI-first tax platform. You’ll work together with the rest of our engineering team to enable faster product development and build reliable systems that can handle sensitive financial data. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE. You’ll design and operate our entire platform, improve developer tooling, and ensure our systems are resilient, observable, and secure by default. You’ll also play a key role in shaping our data platform and enforcing strong data security practices across the stack. If you enjoy interesting technical challenges and automating infrastructure you’ll be a great fit.
What You’ll Do
- Build and operate our cloud infrastructure (100% of our infra is code)
- Own reliability, observability (OTEL), and incident response across our systems
- Design and improve developer tooling and CI/CD pipelines
- Partner with product and data teams to support scalable data platform needs
- Implement and enforce best practices around security, especially for sensitive tax data
- Improve system performance, cost efficiency, and scalability across services
- Be comfortable working across infrastructure, backend systems, and developer workflows
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm
- Background in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and/or developer tooling
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, and system reliability
- Ability to balance pragmatism with long-term system design
Bonus Points
- Experience building or supporting data platforms (ETL, orchestration, data infra)
- Familiarity with security best practices in regulated or sensitive data environments
- Experience with observability stacks (Grafana, OpenTelemetry, etc.)
- Experience working in fast-paced startups or 0 → 1 environments
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or data pipelines
Tech We Use
- Cloud: AWS
- Infra: Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Github actions (CI/CD)
- Services: Typescript, React, Node.js (Fastify)
- Data: Airflow, Postgres, PostHog
- Observability: Grafana, OpenTelemetry
