The Opportunity
As the Customer Business Development Manager at Maple Leaf Foods Inc, you will champion the company and its customers by developing and strengthening relationships, while managing and growing both Maple Leaf Foods and customer businesses.
Role
In this role you will:
- Reach and exceed internal volume, profit, and ROI targets.
- Develop strong customer relationships beyond transactional interactions.
- Drive profitable growth through sales fundamentals, pricing, promotion, and display.
- Lead the complete sales process including joint business planning, negotiation, and forecasting.
- Use data sources like Nielsen and IRI to build fact-based selling strategies.
- Manage key financials including Maple Leaf and customer P&Ls.
- Acquire in-depth product, industry, and category management expertise.
- Exercise multi-functional leadership with internal teams (marketing, insights, field sales, etc.).
- Travel occasionally and develop stretch targets to exceed plans.
What You’ll Bring
Candidates should have 5-7 years of relevant sales experience in the retail food or consumer packaged goods industry with a business-related university degree. Required skills include:
- Strong commercial sense and industry knowledge.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Self-management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Leadership, negotiation, and category management expertise.
- Proficiency in computer skills and valid driver’s license.
