AWS Cloud Security Engineer at MANTECH

MANTECH is seeking a highly motivated, career and customer-oriented AWS Cloud Security Engineer to join our team, supporting a critical endeavor for Naval Sea Systems. This role focuses on reimagining and modernizing AWS cloud services through fully automated deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, configure, and maintain security tooling within AWS to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Utilize Splunk for log analysis, dashboard creation, and explaining data flows between components.
• Manage and optimize SIEM workflows to enhance data correlation and reduce incident response times.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies as part of a high-performing Agile engineering team.
• Create, maintain, and regularly update relevant system documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field; OR a High School Diploma combined with 8+ years of relevant cloud engineering experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering.
• Possession of an active entry-level cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft AZ-900).
• Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) certification within six months of hire.
• Proficiency in navigating the Splunk environment, understanding its core architecture (Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders), and explaining data ingestion, indexing, and querying.
• Demonstrated experience with AWS GuardDuty for threat detection and AWS Inspector for vulnerability management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience securing Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and/or managing Kubernetes clusters.
• Familiarity with Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) (formerly McAfee ePO) for centralized security policy management.
• Experience utilizing ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution) / Tenable for network discovery and compliance assessment.
• Possession of an active AWS Security – Specialty certification.

Clearance Requirements

Candidates must hold an active Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Occasional movement within the office for accessing file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Frequent communication with co-workers, management, and customers, including presentations, requiring accurate information exchange.
