Position Summary

The role of Project Engineer 1 assists and supports the Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities, and gathers and distributes information. Project Engineer 1 must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, forward, and track status of submittals.
  • Initiate, prepare, review, track, and distribute RFIs.
  • Manage changes, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change orders.
  • Track and inspect material deliveries.
  • Assist in performing quality control inspections.
  • Compile, review, and log Trade Partner safety documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly owner project status reports.
  • Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes.
  • Assist and/or complete project close-out and oversee punch list documentation.
  • Communicate and enforce Manhattan’s environmental, health, and safety management policies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-free environment.
  • Maintain accurate contract documents through project management software.
  • Oversee construction photo documentation process.
  • Assist with project-specific integration of quality, closeout, & procurement technology software.
  • Assist Project Management team.
  • Conduct themselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibit attributes matching the Way We Work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines

  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office, Procore, & Bluebeam products.
  • Knowledge of Manhattan document control and scheduling software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math/accounting skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, an equivalent degree, or related work experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts

Adaptable to all types of weather conditions and traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day. Ability to repeat the same movements. Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls. Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence. Ability to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds. Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License). Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
