Overview
The Financial Analyst II - Regulatory Reporting works in a hybrid model based in Buffalo, NY at the One M&T Plaza corporate office. This role involves technical research and preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial, tax, and regulatory information to senior management, regulators, and audit teams, ensuring data quality and adherence to internal controls.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide cross training and support to new team members.
- Assist with problem resolution, variance analysis, and data interpretation.
- Prepare complex financial schedules, reconciliations, bank regulatory reports, SEC disclosures, and internal management reports.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, GAAP, and risk management standards.
- Design, maintain, and enhance internal controls; escalate risk-related issues.
- Present findings to managers and peers when necessary.
- Participate in training and development opportunities.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards and support audit requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with minimum 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree with 4 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance related fields. Competency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access, with data visualization or querying skills as a bonus. Strong problem-solving, communication, and detail orientation required.
