About Major League Soccer
Major League Soccer (MLS) is actively seeking a highly skilled Tax Analyst to bolster its tax compliance team. This pivotal role requires an individual with a strong background in partnership tax environments, ready to contribute to the League's financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities of the Tax Analyst
- Prepare, review, and coordinate tax work papers for submission to external service providers.
- Engage proactively with team members to gather necessary financial information for tax purposes.
- Conduct detailed reviews of work papers, tax extensions, and returns from service providers, closely monitoring progress on federal, state, and local tax processes.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual income and excise tax returns for specific states and international jurisdictions.
- Provide crucial support for international tax compliance issues concerning subsidiaries in Canada, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, alongside other cross-border tax matters.
- Assist in resolving open tax audits across all levels of government agencies.
- Contribute to the Form 1099 and Form 1042 compliance processes.
- Ensure meticulous compliance with foreign tax laws related to international payments and receipts from various business deals.
- Identify and implement opportunities for value creation and process improvements within the tax function.
- Collaborate effectively across the enterprise, responding to inquiries promptly.
- Participate in various special projects as opportunities arise.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a CPA certification are required.
- A Master of Science in Taxation (MST) is desired.
- 1-3 years of recent experience gained within a public accounting tax practice.
- A solid understanding of tax research areas and comprehensive knowledge of partnership tax compliance and tax accounting is highly desired.
- Familiarity with State and Local Tax (SALT) compliance is also desired.
