Job Description

Senior Accountant

Major League Baseball (MLB) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is crucial for supporting the financial operations of the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball. If you have a strong accounting background and a passion for the sport, we encourage you to apply.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the preparation of journal entries for monthly accruals across various MLB entities.
  • Support accounts payable processes and prepare related bank reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including generating invoices for international broadcast, baseball operations, and MLB Clubs.
  • Assist with reconciliations of Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts.
  • Support financial close processes at month-end and year-end.
  • Assist with the monthly close process for all fixed asset ledgers.

Reporting & Audit:

  • Prepare financial data analyses and reports monthly.
  • Assist in the dissemination of information to auditors.
  • Support the preparation of audited financial statements.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required (CPA preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in a related finance and accounting role (Public accounting experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills, technical accounting proficiency, effective problem-solving abilities, and a strong capacity to interpret accounting information and reports.
  • Ability to work under pressure and cultivate key relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with external contacts, internal management, and the accounting and finance team.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems is preferred.

Salary Range:

$90,000-$115,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
