About Dicey - Crypto Casino & Sportsbook

Magic Eden achieved unicorn status rapidly by focusing on crypto-native expertise and in-house engineering. We are now expanding into the $180B+ iGaming and sports betting markets with Dicey, our crypto casino and sportsbook platform. We've successfully launched the product, demonstrated early traction, and established a strong foundation. Now, we are scaling and seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead the data and metrics function for our casino and/or sports products.

What You’ll Do

• Own the data and metrics function for Dicey’s casino and/or sports product, establishing foundational frameworks from scratch.
• Define and develop key performance metrics for user growth, retention, incentive effectiveness, and revenue (GGR/NGR).
• Build proactive risk monitoring and alerting systems to identify abuse patterns and address novel exploits early.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Business Development teams to translate data insights into impactful business decisions.
• Develop rigorous accounting and metric definitions (e.g., deposit bonus NGR, affiliate payout calculations) to support business operations.
• Contribute to both casino and sports workstreams, from rewards progression modeling to sportsbook margin analysis, aligning with business priorities.
• Clearly present findings and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders and founders.

What You'll Bring

• 8+ years of experience in Data Science or Analytics, with significant experience in iGaming, crypto casino, or sports betting.
• Deep understanding of casino and/or sports betting metrics, including GGR, NGR, hold percentage, and rakeback.
• Proven experience in building risk monitoring frameworks and proactive alerting systems for anomaly detection.
• Advanced SQL proficiency and expertise in Python or R; comfortable building and managing data pipelines.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence product and business decisions; technical expertise is essential, but landing the insight is key.
• An operator mindset: ability to move fast, adapt to changing priorities, and thrive in a zero-to-one environment.
• Experience working collaboratively with Product and Engineering teams.
• Prior experience as a Head of Data Science or Data Science Manager, especially with building or scaling a data function, is a strong plus.
• Background at a crypto casino (e.g., Stake, Shuffle, Rainbet, Roobet) or a comparable iGaming platform is highly preferred.
