About the Role: On-Site Home Visitor at Magellan Health
Magellan Health is seeking a dedicated On-Site Home Visitor to support eligible military families with expectant parents and children from birth to three years of age at JBLM, Washington. This vital program aims to bolster young military families, enhancing their adaptation to military life, fostering healthy relationships, and creating safe, nurturing environments to prevent family violence. The role involves providing comprehensive services, including information, referrals, parenting programs, respite care, and supervised play time for children.
Families identified as being at risk for child maltreatment or family violence will receive additional, intensive support, benefiting greatly from these specialized services. As an On-Site Home Visitor, you will be instrumental in delivering effective, timely, and confidential services while upholding the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality for all client information.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective, timely, and confidential services for families identified as at risk.
- Protect client privacy and confidentiality.
- Identify and report suspected child abuse, neglect, and domestic abuse.
- Assess developmental milestones and facilitate referrals for special needs or delays.
- Support parents in adapting to parenthood and strengthening their capacity for problem-solving and relationship building.
- Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills, disciplinary techniques, and parent-child communication.
- Facilitate community networks to build positive relationships and reduce social isolation.
- Develop relationships with local community and military installation officials for program effectiveness.
- Utilize community-based services and networks to provide concrete support for families in crisis.
- Implement methods for screening, assessing, and addressing protective and risk factors related to child abuse and neglect using a strengths-based approach.
- Maintain an up-to-date tracking system for case status.
- Participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for the On-Site Home Visitor position, candidates must meet specific criteria:
- At least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse, domestic abuse, maternal/child health, or medical social work.
- Hold a current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers must have a current, valid, unrestricted clinical license and a master’s degree in Social Work.
- Registered Nurses must possess a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a current unrestricted license in one of the States or U.S. territories, and at least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse/domestic abuse, maternal/child health, public/community health, or mental health.
- Demonstrated home visitation experience is essential.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Strong communication and interaction skills, both in person and via telephone.
- Capable of working under time pressure and rapidly for extended periods to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies and procedures.
- Physical ability to enter private homes that may vary in accessibility and transport self between various locations.
