About the Role: On-site Home Visitor
As an On-site Home Visitor with Magellan Federal, you will provide crucial support to eligible military families, including expectant parents and those with children from birth to three years of age. This program is vital for military mission readiness, helping family members adapt to military life, fostering healthy relationships, creating safe and nurturing environments for children, and preventing family violence. Your role will encompass a range of activities and services, such as providing information and referrals, delivering parenting programs, organizing respite care for children, and supervising child play time. Families identified as being at risk for child maltreatment or family violence will receive additional, intensive support through these services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective, timely, and confidential services to families identified as at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence.
- Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all client information.
- Identify and report all suspected cases of child abuse and neglect, as well as domestic abuse.
- Assess developmental milestones and facilitate referral procedures for indicators of special needs or developmental delays in children.
- Support and strengthen families' adaptation to parenthood.
- Enhance parental capacity for problem-solving, building trusting relationships, and seeking help when necessary.
- Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills, effective disciplinary techniques, and strong parent-child communication.
- Facilitate the development of informal and formal community networks to foster positive relationships and reduce social isolation.
- Cultivate relationships with local community and military installation officials and organizations to maximize program effectiveness.
- Utilize community-based services and networks to provide concrete support for families in crisis.
- Implement methods for screening, assessing, and addressing protective and risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect, employing a strengths-based, family-centered developmental approach.
- Maintain an up-to-date tracking system for all case statuses.
- Actively participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events.
Required Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, maternal or child health, or medical social work.
- Must hold a current and active license as an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marital and Family Therapist), or RN (Registered Nurse).
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers must possess a current, valid, unrestricted clinical license and a Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Registered Nurses must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a current unrestricted license in one of the U.S. States or territories, and at least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, maternal or child health, public/community health, or mental health.
- Demonstrated home visitation experience.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for in-person and telephone interactions.
- Capability to work under time pressure and rapidly for long periods to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies and procedures.
- Physical ability to enter private homes, which may vary in accessibility.
- Position requires ability to transport self from office locations to private homes, other offices, and facilities for training and program activities.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,440 - $93,500. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors. This position may also be eligible for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, voluntary, and other benefits that enhance overall well-being.
