Job Summary
As an On site Home Visitor at Magellan Federal, you will provide crucial support to eligible military families with expectant parents and children from birth to three years of age at JBLM, Washington. This role directly contributes to military mission readiness by supporting family adaptation, enhancing healthy relationships, and creating safe, nurturing environments to prevent family violence. You will deliver comprehensive activities and services, including information and referrals, parenting programs, respite care, and supervised play time for children. This position is particularly vital for families identified as being at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence, offering intensive, confidential support.
You will provide effective, timely, and confidential services, ensuring the privacy of client information while identifying and reporting suspected child abuse, neglect, and domestic abuse. Key responsibilities include assessing developmental milestones, strengthening adaptation to parenthood, and fostering parental capacity for problem-solving and building trusting relationships. You will promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills, facilitate community networks to reduce social isolation, and collaborate with local community and military officials to maximize program effectiveness. Your role involves utilizing community-based services and networks for concrete family support, applying strengths-based, family-centered approaches to screen and address protective and risk factors related to child abuse and neglect, and maintaining accurate case status tracking. Participation in monthly conference calls and annual training events is also required.
Other Job Requirements
- Must have at least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, maternal or child health, or medical social work.
- Hold a current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers require a current, valid, unrestricted clinical license and a master’s degree in Social Work.
- Registered Nurses require at least a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a current unrestricted license in one of the States or U.S. territories, and at least two (2) years of direct work experience in specified health or social work fields.
- Demonstrated home visitation experience is essential.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Excellent communication and interaction skills, both in person and by telephone.
- Capable of working under time pressure and rapidly to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies.
- Physical ability to enter private homes and transport self to various locations for program activities.
Education and Licensure
- Required Education: Bachelor's in Nursing, Master's in Counseling, or Master's in Social Work.
- Required Licenses/Certifications: LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marital and Family Therapist), or RN (Registered Nurse, State and/or Compact State Licensure).
