Home Visitor, LCSW/LMFT or RN, Fort Rucker
Magellan Federal is seeking dedicated professionals to provide crucial support to military families at Fort Rucker, Alabama. As a Home Visitor, you will work with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to three years old. This role is vital in supporting young military families, contributing directly to military mission readiness, assisting family members in adapting to military life, and enhancing knowledge and skills for healthy relationships to create safe, nurturing environments for children, thereby preventing family violence.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include offering activities and services such as information and referrals, parenting programs, respite care for children, and supervised play time. You will provide intensive support to families assessed as being at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence, ensuring services are effective, timely, and confidential. Key duties involve identifying and reporting suspected child abuse, neglect, and domestic abuse; assessing developmental milestones and referral procedures; strengthening adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity for problem-solving; promoting developmentally appropriate parenting skills and disciplinary techniques; and facilitating community networks to reduce social isolation.
You will also develop relationships with local community and military installation officials, utilize community-based services for concrete support, and employ methods for assessing and addressing protective and risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect using a strengths-based, family-centered developmental approach. Maintaining an up-to-date tracking system for case status and participating in monthly conference calls and annual training events are also essential.
Other Job Requirements
- At least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, or maternal or child health or medical social work.
- Must hold a current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers must possess a current, valid, unrestricted clinical license and a master’s degree in Social Work.
- Registered Nurses must have at least a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a current unrestricted license in one of the States or U.S. territories, and at least two (2) years of direct work experience in relevant fields.
- Must have home visitation experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under time pressure and rapidly to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies.
- Ability to enter private homes, which may have varying accessibility.
- Ability to transport self between office locations, private homes, and other facilities.
