About the Transformer Technician Role at Maddox Industrial Transformer
As a Transformer Technician, you will work in a shop environment, developing your technical and mechanical skills by reconditioning dry-type and liquid-filled transformers. This is not an assembly-line factory job; it’s a fast-paced, hard-working, but very rewarding environment where you will be part of a team of qualified technicians who rebuild industrial transformers. Day-to-Day Activities
- Evaluate, disassemble, recondition, and reassemble electrical transformers.
- Remove/replace accessories, clean and repair parts, and replace gaskets and seals.
- Perform basic MIG welding and metal fabrication.
- Be trained in basic electrical testing, as well as inventory evaluation, paint, and quality control procedures.

Work Schedule & Environment
- This position works 40-45 hours per week on a 4-day a week schedule.
- All day-time schedule (not night shift). Schedule changes slightly during Summer/Winter, but is generally 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Some paid overtime is available during peak times.
- Employees are required to meet basic physical requirements for a heavy-equipment environment. Occasional exposure to confined spaces.
- Must know how to use basic hand tools, follow written instructions, etc.
- Smoke-free, drug-free workplace.
Compensation & Full-Time Benefits
- Starting Pay: $24.15 - $31.50 per hour.
- Comprehensive full-time benefits package that averages more than an additional $20,000/year per employee (individual amounts vary on age, family size, and other factors).
- 3 Weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) (and an additional week for managers, and an additional week after 5 years).
- Health & Wellness: Can be taken as traditional insurance, or as cash in lieu of benefits. Benefit amounts vary based on age, family status, and eligibility, but as an example, in most circumstances, an employee with a spouse and 3 kids, would be eligible for $19,200 / year or more.
- Paid paternity/maternity leave.
- 401k with 100% match up to 8% of wages.
- Paid holidays, marriage and family gifts to celebrate significant life events, and other reimbursements and voluntary benefits and coverages (such as Vision, Dental, Short Term Disability, Additional Life Insurance, Accident, etc), as eligible.

We value skills and experience (welding, fabrication, general shop/mechanical skills, auto body prep/paint), but we’re also willing to invest in training early-career candidates with the right attitude and ambition.
