Job Description
About MacPractice
MacPractice, headquartered in Nebraska, provides specialized practice management and clinical software for healthcare providers across the United States. As part of Valsoft Corporation, MacPractice operates with a long-term ownership mindset, focused on product excellence, operational autonomy, and sustainable growth.
About The Agent Builder Role
MacPractice is seeking an Agent Builder, a visionary who can design, build, and deploy AI agent systems. These systems will either revolutionize operations within our portfolio companies or become innovative standalone products for customers. This is a hands-on role, not research-focused, where you will be directly embedded within MacPractice teams. You'll gain deep insights into daily operations and construct AI agents to tackle real-world tasks, including customer support, sales outreach, onboarding, internal documentation, and workflow automation. Your work will have immediate, measurable impact, shipping to real users and evolving into new revenue-generating capabilities for MacPractice's customer base.
What You'll Do
Build Internal AI Agent Teams
- Design and deploy AI agents for operational work across MacPractice, covering customer support tiers 1 and 2, SDR and sales outreach, onboarding automation, content and marketing workflows, and engineering maintenance.
- Measure impact by quantifying labor hours replaced or team output increased.
- Collaborate directly with portfolio company operators to pinpoint high-value automation opportunities.
Build External AI Products
- Develop novel AI-powered products such as vertical voice agents, AI copilots, workflow automation tools, and AI documentation systems, specifically tailored for industries served by our portfolio companies.
- Take full ownership of the product lifecycle, from initial prototype to launch, including securing the first paying customers.
- Leverage existing portfolio company distribution channels across over 30 companies to validate and scale solutions rapidly.
Ship and Iterate
- Drive rapid progression from idea to Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and into production.
- Conduct beta tests with genuine users, collect feedback, and continuously enhance products.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
What You Bring
- A proven history of successfully launching products, tools, projects, startups, or side projects.
- Robust practical knowledge of AI and machine learning tools, large language models, and agent frameworks.
- The ability to swiftly develop functional prototypes from scratch.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, often defining both the problem and its solution.
- A strong bias towards action over extensive planning.
Nice to Have
- Experience in building AI agents, voice agents, or workflow automation.
- Background in vertical SaaS or B2B product development.
- Familiarity with industries such as HVAC, healthcare, dental, or professional services.
- Previous startup or founder experience.
- Experience working across multiple product lines or business units.
Not Required
- A CS degree or Ivy League credentials.
- FAANG experience on your resume.
- Years of formal AI/ML research experience.
Why Join MacPractice?
- Build tangible products that ship to real customers, avoiding internal tools that gather dust.
- Benefit from built-in distribution and immediate customer feedback via access to over 30 portfolio companies.
- Enjoy high ownership, defining what gets built and how.
- Gain equity and a clear growth path directly tied to your impact, whether scaling internal AI operations or launching new business units.
Compensation & Benefits
MacPractice offers a competitive base salary and aggressive performance-based variable compensation. This pay is directly linked to the value you create, calculated as a percentage of internal cost savings from AI agent deployments or incremental revenue from new AI products. Equity is also available, with details based on role scope and track. Benefits include health coverage and a dedicated budget for APIs, tools, and infrastructure.
