Join M-KOPA's Product Growth Team

M-KOPA is actively recruiting Senior Growth Marketing Managers to scale its growing FinTech division. In this role, you will architect growth systems that maximize customer lifetime value (LTV) and drive retention economics to unlock financial inclusion for millions across Africa.

You will design the retention and up-sell infrastructure that drives measurable customer lifetime value and revenue growth, creating financial inclusion for Africa's traditionally excluded. The Opportunity

  • Build growth infrastructure, not just campaigns: Architect segmentation frameworks, experimentation roadmaps, and growth operating systems used by M-KOPA's Product, Operations, and Commercial teams to drive activation, retention, and up-sell across 5 African markets. This involves building systems from scratch.
  • Strategic partner to senior leadership & Product: Work directly with senior leadership on strategy, product roadmap decisions, and commercial performance, shaping business strategy, not just marketing tactics.
  • Own customer lifetime value, not just campaign metrics: Your success will be measured in LTV growth, up-sell revenue, retention economics, and payback periods, moving beyond open rates or click-throughs.
  • Transform CRM from support channel to growth engine: Design frameworks that move customers from their first smartphone purchase to digital loans, health insurance, and bundle services, triggered by payment behavior.
  • Scale what you build across emerging markets: Your frameworks will scale across Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, and South Africa, adapting for local context and leveraging one of Africa's richest proprietary datasets and a unique distribution model (30,000+ field agents + 300 telesales + digital).

What You'll Do

This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution. You'll partner with senior leadership and Product teams to shape business strategy, then personally validate strategies by building campaigns in CRM platforms. You'll design the experiment, build it yourself, influence Product with insights, and scale what works across 5 markets. Your mission is to transform CRM from a tactical channel into a strategic revenue engine that drives financial inclusion at scale.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Design and own the growth operating system: Build segmentation frameworks, experimentation roadmaps, and measurement infrastructure for retention and up-sell across M-KOPA.
  • Architect behavioral trigger-based up-sell systems: Design retention and lifecycle programs moving customers from entry products to high-value bundles based on payment behavior and engagement.
  • Validate strategies by building campaigns yourself: Personally build and deploy automated customer journeys in platforms like CleverTap/Braze, running hypothesis-driven experiments with statistical rigor across various channels.
  • Influence product and pricing strategy with customer insights: Translate CRM experiments and retention economics into product feature recommendations, pricing changes, and commercial strategy.
  • Scale what works into repeatable playbooks: Turn successful experiments into documented frameworks that enable teams to execute growth initiatives autonomously across 5 markets.

Your Environment & Tech Stack

Product Growth Tech Stack:

  • CRM/Lifecycle Tools: CleverTap, Braze, MoEngage, Customer.io, Iterable, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud (deep expertise in one or two is key).
  • Analytics: GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Looker (or similar).
  • Channels: WhatsApp, SMS, push notifications, in-app messaging, telesales, and integrated Direct Sales Agent networks.
  • Data: Proprietary customer insights spanning millions of transactions across 5 African markets.

What You Need

  • LTV and business economics mindset: Excitement for maximizing customer lifetime value, framing achievements in business outcomes like revenue generated, LTV improved, retention economics transformed, and payback periods optimized.
  • Strategic growth leadership with hands-on CRM execution: Experience building systems, transforming CRM capabilities, and personally building complex customer journeys in tools like Braze or CleverTap, while influencing product and business strategy at a senior leadership level.
  • Behavioral trigger-based up or cross-sell expertise: Designed systems that move customers to higher-value offerings based on behavior such as payment patterns, engagement signals, and product usage.
  • Rigorous experimentation methodology: Proven track record of running tests with clear hypotheses, control groups, and statistical rigor, demonstrating a test → learn → optimize → scale approach.
