About the Role
At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We are revolutionizing transportation by advancing autonomous vehicle safety. As an Autonomous Vehicle Safety & Compliance Engineer, you will drive safety and compliance initiatives in our AV efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and assess safety cases and technical requirements using UL 4600, ISO 26262, and ISO 21448.
- Conduct audits, testing, and evaluations with comprehensive engineering reporting.
- Perform on-road and closed-course testing, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Utilize Quantified Risk Management tools such as FMEDA, DFMEA, FTA, and DFA.
- Collaborate with Business and Legal teams, ensuring AV platform compliance with FMVSS and state codes.
Technical & Leadership Skills
Proven background in systems engineering, functional safety, and AV technology is required. Experience with validation, verification, and technical audits is essential. Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills are expected.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years in systems engineering, ADAS/AV design, sensor technologies, or functional safety engineering. Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred. Familiarity with industry standards (UL 4600, ISO 26262, ISO 21448, IEC 61508) and tools like JAMASoft is ideal.
