Audit Intern - Summer 2027
Get a true glimpse into the accounting profession when you join Lumsden McCormick's internship program. Whether your interest is tax or audit, our paid interns are not filing, making copies, or delivering coffee; after an in-house orientation program you will begin working immediately on real jobs. Your days will closely mirror that of an entry-level staff accountant complete with training, mentoring, and direct client access. Learn the work as you do the work alongside our experienced staff.
The Intern Accountant has primary responsibility for developing appropriate skills in applying accounting, auditing, and tax theory and principles. Intern accountants are expected to develop a technical knowledge base while observing how to apply that knowledge in a professional sense.
Audit internships are available in the summer starting in June 2027.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs various accounting, auditing tasks, and tax practices to ensure accurate and reliable data and client satisfaction through high-quality service deliverables.
- Seeks out opportunities to develop industry and technical expertise in various accounting and auditing areas.
Experience
- Junior standing (or above) in an accredited MS Accounting or MBA program with a concentration in Accounting.
- For consideration, all candidates must be in the process of completing educational coursework that will meet the NYS 150-hour education requirement for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) PRIOR to full-time hire.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and strong organization skills.
- Ability to travel to client locations, predominantly Western New York clients.
- A willingness to work in a team environment.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS
- Duration: June 2027 through August 2027.
- Minimum commitment of 36.5 hours per week.
- Non-exempt employee status, entitled to overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
