What You'll Do as a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

• Break things creatively: Design comprehensive tests to expose vulnerabilities in storage tiering, kernel interactions, and complex edge cases.
• Find flaws early: Implement shift-left testing methodologies through fault injection, fuzzing techniques, and adversarial approaches.
• Automate the chaos: Develop robust test frameworks capable of simulating filesystem corruption, kernel panics, and critical recovery scenarios.
• Push systems to fail: Artificially induce I/O storms, memory leaks, and resource starvation to validate system resilience.
• Debug deep: Solve intricate issues at the kernel, filesystem, and block device layers.
• Lead quality culture: Mentor engineering teams in defensive thinking, focusing on Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), and establish efficient CI/CD pipelines.

What You'll Need

Must-Haves:

• 4+ years of dedicated experience testing storage systems, filesystems, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in programming (Java/Python) and extensive test automation experience.
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Windows storage stacks and benchmarking tools such as fio and vdbench.
• Familiarity with kernel debugging tools including strace and eBPF.
• Proven experience with major cloud storage platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Good-to-Haves:

• Contributions to open-source storage projects (e.g., Ceph, ZFS, kernel).
• "Production war stories" demonstrating experience in identifying and resolving critical bugs.
• Knowledge of RAID, erasure coding, or advanced tiering algorithms.
• A passion for intentionally crashing systems to uncover critical flaws.
• An interest in directly influencing system architecture through rigorous testing insights.
