The Role: Junior ETL Developer

We are actively seeking a Junior ETL Developer to join our team in Germany. In this role, you will operate at the intersection of technology and finance, bridging the gap between complex data sources and actionable financial insights. You will collaborate closely with customers to comprehend their data requirements and translate them into efficient extraction scripts. This position is perfect for a recent graduate or an early-career professional eager to master the fundamentals of data engineering within the dynamic financial sector.

What you'll do

• Develop ETL Apps: Write and maintain ETL applications using Java and SQL with our proprietary ETL Script Designer.
• Manage Data Extractions: Utilize SQL to perform efficient data extractions from diverse client databases and systems.
• Customer Interaction: Serve as a primary technical point of contact for customers, participating in meetings and handling email communications concerning their data integration needs.
• Project Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of scripts and processes to ensure long-term stability for our extensive legacy projects (10+ years).
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work in close partnership with the Lead ETL Developer to align on project requirements and technical standards.
• Continuous Learning: Proactively acquire foundational knowledge of financial accounting to better understand the business logic underpinning the data you manage.

What you bring to the table

• Technical Education: A degree in Business Information Management, Business Informatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Java Fundamentals: A solid foundational understanding of Java code, with comfort in developing in 'plain' Java environments.
• SQL Proficiency: The ability to write basic SQL queries and a clear understanding of how to join tables and extract data.
• Linguistic Skills: Native or near-native fluency in German is crucial for customer interaction, complemented by professional English proficiency.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication abilities and a proactive willingness to manage follow-ups and project timelines with customers.
• Financial Curiosity: While not mandatory, an interest in or basic knowledge of financial accounting is a significant advantage.
• Experience (Plus): Previous experience in first-level support or technical internships is highly valued.
