Role Summary

This role is a unique opportunity in the Infrastructure and Cloud Division, working as a Senior Specialist, Database Administration within Infrastructure Platform Engineering. The focus is on evolving database solutions and automation to meet ambitious futures.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain standards for database builds, security, patching, high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor and configure database resources for optimum performance.
  • Manage backup/restore procedures and database version upgrades.
  • Perform maintenance and upgrades outside normal hours including weekends.
  • Support development projects with database design and performance tuning.
  • Assist platform administrators and provide on-call shift cover.
  • Automate manual database management tasks and align strategies to IT security policies.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with Sybase ASE, IQ, Replication Server and Direct Connect.
  • PostgreSQL and SQL Server Database Administration.
  • Database infrastructure installs, upgrades and patching.
  • High availability and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Cloud environment support and DevOps tool usage.
  • Shell Scripting, ISQL and ITIL Service Framework understanding.

Optional Skills

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Delphix, Whitesands, Geneos, and Datadog.
