Role Summary

The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer is a hands-on role within our Cloud Engineering security team. You will design, implement, and maintain secure AWS architectures across our cloud landing zone. This role requires coding, configuring security tools, and collaborating deeply with cloud architects, platform, and security engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and Design: Lead design and implementation of secure AWS architectures with adherence to standards.
  • Implementation & Automation: Develop and deploy automated security controls using Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Security Tooling: Optimize and manage AWS security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, etc.).
  • Vulnerability Management: Establish scanning, penetration testing, and remediation processes.
  • Identity & Access Management: Design robust IAM policies ensuring least privilege access.
  • Network & Data Protection: Secure AWS networks and implement encryption and DLP strategies.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and support audits.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Guide junior engineers and promote a security-driven culture.
  • Research & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging AWS threats and technologies.

Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of hands-on AWS cloud security experience. Strong expertise with AWS security services, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), scripting (Python, Bash), and AWS IAM principles. Familiarity with network security concepts and SIEM/SOAR tools is essential. Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR, ISO 27001) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS Certified Security – Specialty and other relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, GSEC) are advantageous, especially within regulated financial environments.
