The Role: Software Architect
Loopio is looking for a passionate and endlessly curious Software Architect to build and support all the aspects of our platform development. You will be joining the team of talented Engineers and Architects on the mission to support and enable our software development teams to deliver cutting edge features to our customers with high speed and confidence in an automated and repeatable process. If you are a passionate engineer who always looks at opportunities to improve your mastery, and enjoys working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, you will be successful in this role.
This role requires close collaboration with teams across Canada, the UK, and India. To accommodate the time zone differences, you will be expected to work from 11 am to 7:30 pm IST.
What you’ll be doing
- Working with PMs and Tech leads of the feature teams to identify and propose best solutions for a business problem
- Design and develop API strategy for organization based on industry standards and best practices
- Investigate next-generation technologies for applicability to solve current and future technical challenges
- Follow industry trends and developments to rapidly absorb new knowledge bases and incorporate them into new and existing architectures
- Manage risk identification and risk mitigation strategies associated with the architecture
- Help teams diagnose failures and root causes of problems
- Passion for technology and enjoy collaborating closely with business and development teams, to build winning solutions
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and practices
What You'll Bring To The Team
- Mentorship to other engineers through coaching, design, code reviews
- Experience working with a microservice-based architecture
- Strong knowledge of web technology stacks
- Proficient in using and designing REST APIs
- Strong understanding of testing best practices
- Knowledge of SQL & NoSQL databases
- Experience with agile development using Scrum or Kanban
- Experience with the following is a nice to have:
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- General DevOps knowledge: CI/CD, automation, build, deployment, configuration of multiple environments
- Docker and Swarm/Kubernetes architecture knowledge
Where You’ll Work
Loopio is a global company, HQ’d in Canada, that embraces flexible and effective work models. While many of our teams operate remotely, this role is part of a new, strategic product team that will work in a hybrid model to accelerate innovation and foster deep collaboration. This hybrid role will likely be based in one of our key India hubs: Ahmedabad, with the expectation of working from our co-working space 3 days per week. This approach is intentionally designed to give you the best of both worlds: high-impact, in-person collaboration with your team to drive impactful product initiatives, and the flexibility of focused work-from-home days.
Our employees (or Loopers, as we call ourselves!) live and work in 🌿 Canada (British Columbia and Ontario), 🍀 London, and 🍁 India (specifically in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Bengaluru).
Our India/UK hub employees work according to business hours stated in the job description above. This is intentionally designed to enable our global teams to have overlapping hours for collaboration. You’ll collaborate with your immediate team in person and with our global teams virtually across the UK, Canada, and the US (we’re just a Zoom call and Slack message away!), with core sync hours and focus time for headsdown work 🙅 during the workday We encourage balancing synchronous and asynchronous collaboration to effectively work as a global #OneTeam!
