Gear Grinder at Lockheed Martin
Set up and operate one or more gear grinding, wheel dress, and balancing machines to produce rough and finish ground splines, spur, and helical gears.
Typical Responsibilities
- Follow specific instructions to set up and operate gear-grinding machines and associated equipment.
- Use hand tools, gauges, and dial indicators for installation and verification.
- Employ optical equipment under direction to adjust and dress wheels.
- Check and record work piece dimensions and ensure quality standards.
- Visually inspect parts for finish, profile, and any surface issues.
- Maintain dimensional records and obtain inspection acceptance of finished parts.
- Assist with related gear machining tasks and verify work of fellow operators.
- Follow directions to resolve issues, complete checklists, and comply with EH&S procedures.
- Segregate waste material and maintain good housekeeping practices.
