Overview
The Component Inspector at Lockheed Martin performs a variety of visual and dimensional inspections on production, model change or out of production transmission, rotorhead, gearbox, powerplant systems and related detail components. This role involves inspecting components during overhaul, modification, and re-assembly processes.
Typical Responsibilities
- Follow standard inspection procedures, check sheets, drawings, and instructions for accurate inspections.
- Inspect and evaluate components for discrepancies such as nicks, dents, scratches, and other surface damage.
- Review components scheduled for assembly/overhaul to ensure specification compliance.
- Utilize standard measuring instruments like micrometers and vernier calipers for evaluations.
- Inspect and verify electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic tests for assembly conformance.
- Evaluate jet turbine engine assemblies, ensuring dimensional clearances and operational functionality.
- Record proper documentation, disposition of nonconforming materials, and complete paperwork.
- Ensure components include latest revisions and meet Quality Assurance data before release.
- Perform certification for torque applications and assist with equipment upkeep.
- Follow environmental, health, and safety protocols with proper waste segregation and housekeeping.
