Business Intelligence Developer at Linamar Corporation
This role is based in Guelph, ON and requires in-person attendance a minimum of 3 days per week. The Business Intelligence Developer will join our Data & Analytics team to design, develop, and maintain Power BI solutions for clear, actionable insights.
Job Summary
The ideal candidate is a skilled, detail-oriented Power BI Developer specializing in report development, data modeling, DAX, and visualization best practices. They will collaborate with data engineers and business users to deliver trusted analytics.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Create and optimize Power BI semantic models using star schema and snowflake techniques.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
- Optimize report performance with query optimization and model tuning.
- Develop complex SQL queries for ETL processes.
- Implement row-level security and regulate access in Power BI.
- Collaborate with data engineers using Microsoft Fabric, SQL Data Warehouse, and enterprise data sources.
- Validate data accuracy and ensure consistency across reports.
- Apply visualization best practices to create intuitive dashboards.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support and troubleshoot issues related to data refresh, performance, and report usage.
- Document solutions, data models, and business logic.
- Train and support end users on Power BI functionalities.
Academic and Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or related field.
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role.
- Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Service, and Gateways.
- Strong data modeling, advanced DAX, and SQL skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, data integration, and ETL processes.
- Understanding of data governance and reporting standards.
- Familiarity with Excel, Power Automate, and Power Apps integration.
