Job Description
The Role of a Senior Research Analyst at Liminal
At Liminal, we've developed a proprietary Living Graph – a verified knowledge architecture that maps the real-time structure of Identity, Fraud, and Cybersecurity. This, combined with our agentic AI systems and a human verification layer, ensures trustworthiness. Industry leaders such as Visa, Mastercard, Google, and JPMC leverage our intelligence for strategic and revenue-generating decisions. We are a Series A company with 80 talented individuals, with offices in NYC, Salt Lake City, Porto, Lisbon, and Manila, and we're rapidly scaling our team.
Traditional market intelligence often lacks expert review, relying solely on automated scraping and algorithms. The Liminal Analyst Desk was created to address this fundamental problem. It serves as the crucial human-in-the-loop verification layer, ensuring the integrity of every piece of intelligence we deliver. Our desk is staffed by domain experts from Identity, Fraud, and Cybersecurity who possess deep, career-long market understanding. While AI identifies the signals, the Analyst Desk validates the truth, making our system trustworthy for our high-profile clients.
We are seeking a Senior Research Analyst to join our Analyst Desk. This role requires deep expertise or a strong intellectual curiosity in fraud prevention, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, or trust and safety. You will conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research, validate intelligence for accuracy, and act as a subject matter expert engaging directly with industry leaders. Your contributions will directly shape Liminal's coverage in your domain.
This is not a conventional back-office research position. Your analysis will directly influence the intelligence that enterprise customers use to validate strategies, gain competitive advantages, and enter new markets. Your expertise is integral to our product's trustworthiness, not merely an input.
What Success Looks Like
- In your first 30 days: You will fully immerse yourself in Liminal's domain coverage, grasp the Analyst Desk verification workflow and taxonomy, and produce your first reviewed research output.
- In your first 90 days: You will establish a consistent cadence of signal validation, insight review, and original research deliverables. You will conduct your initial analyst briefings with industry leaders and actively refine the Living Graph's modeling across fraud prevention, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and trust and safety.
- In your first year: You will be recognized as a subject matter expert both internally and externally. Your verification work and original research will directly inform customer intelligence, platform content, and strategic recommendations, significantly enhancing the depth and accuracy of Liminal's coverage in your domains.
What You'll Do
- Validate incoming signals and intelligence outputs for accuracy, relevance, and completeness within the Analyst Desk verification workflow, ensuring unverified information never reaches customers.
- Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research across fraud prevention, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and trust and safety, synthesizing proprietary platform intelligence and external sources into actionable deliverables.
- Refine and maintain the Living Graph's taxonomy and ontology for your domain areas, ensuring the system's market structure remains current amidst competitive shifts, emerging categories, and evolving regulations.
- Provide expert commentary and strategic context for Command dashboards, GTM battlecards, and market briefings, enabling customers to make decisions more efficiently.
- Conduct interviews, analyst briefings, and buyer demand surveys with senior executives, market experts, and vendor teams to generate unique primary research.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, correlations, and anomalies, creating clear data visualizations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with engineering, data science, and product teams to integrate your domain expertise directly into how the Living Graph and Large Domain Models reason about fraud, cybersecurity, compliance, and trust and safety.
- Manage multiple concurrent research projects, adhering to strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
What You Bring
You possess a strong background in research, consulting, market intelligence, or a similar analytical discipline, coupled with demonstrated experience or a keen interest in fraud prevention, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, or trust and safety. You are adept at both qualitative and quantitative analysis, skilled in creating impactful data visualizations, and comfortable engaging directly with senior executives in briefings and interviews. You are a clear and rigorous writer, capable of managing your workload autonomously. You are driven by accuracy and quality, not just task completion.
Bonus Points
- Experience in building and maintaining knowledge repositories, taxonomies, or structured research databases.
- Familiarity with investment and market intelligence tools such as PitchBook or Crunchbase.
- A background in hypothesis-driven research methodologies.
- Prior analytical or advisory experience in fraud prevention, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, trust and safety, or adjacent regulated markets.
Why Liminal
Your expertise is foundational to our system. Unlike many companies where domain analysts are an afterthought, at Liminal, the Analyst Desk is architecturally integrated. Every signal undergoes human verification before reaching a customer, and every taxonomy update you make directly influences how our system reasons. The human and technology layers evolve and improve in tandem.
You will work with exclusive data. The Living Graph is a proprietary intelligence architecture, not merely a layer over public data. You will conduct research using verified market intelligence unavailable elsewhere and generate primary research through executive interviews and buyer demand surveys that power Liminal's unique demand signals.
Your work has a compounding effect. Every signal you verify, every taxonomy you refine, and every briefing you conduct enhances the Living Graph and increases the platform's value. You are not producing ephemeral reports; you are building the verified knowledge layer for an entire market.
