Digital forensics often acts as a conduit, linking together key steps of an an engagement—as a first step in gathering evidence, an intermediate step in establishing the facts of a case, a final step in preparing for examination in court—and it requires both strategic understanding of behaviors and outcomes, and tactical skills to put knowledge into action. The talented individuals who make up Lighthouse’s digital forensics team have decades of combined experience across the collection, investigation, and analysis continuum, and hail from careers in security technology, software development, eDiscovery, law enforcement, and the military. The diversity of background and technical acumen within the Lighthouse digital forensics team ensures that we can provide services across a plethora of use cases, using transparent, documented, and defensible workflows and methodologies.
Your Role as a Forensics Associate
Lighthouse is seeking a Forensics Associate to serve as a dedicated resource to one of our top clients - a Fortune 50 technology company. Forensics Associates are responsible for onsite and remote collection of electronically stored information (ESI) from computers, mobile devices, collaboration apps and cloud repositories. Using state-of-the-art technology, they process and analyze data in support of forensic investigations and litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform forensically sound collections of ESI from laptops, desktops, mobile devices, hard drives, servers and cloud data sources both onsite and remotely.
- Verify, extract and analyze data in support of investigations and litigation.
- Conduct custodian interviews to identify relevant data sources.
- Provide proactive status updates to both internal and external clients.
- Log and track evidence, update chain of custody logs and follow evidence management best practices.
- Enter billable time and descriptions into billing system.
Desired Skills and Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of experience in Digital Forensics or eDiscovery.
- A digital forensics industry certification such as CISSP, EnCE, CCE, CFCE, MCFE, or similar is a plus.
- Experience with EnCase, AccessData Forensic Toolkit, XWays, Cellebrite UFED and Physical Analyzer, Cellebrite Inspector (formerly Blacklight), Axiom or open-source forensic tools.
- Strong mastery of data collection, preservation, and chain of custody principles and procedures.
- An understanding of file systems, computer hardware and computer networking concepts.
- Strong Mac, Linux / UNIX, other operating systems experience is a plus.
Work Environment and Benefits
Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
