About The Team

The DBA team is responsible for maintaining, creating, and monitoring a wide variety of database systems. Managing both relational and NoSQL databases, the team ensures high availability, performance, and data integrity while embracing Infrastructure as Code for automated workflows. Collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are key.

About The Job

Life360 is seeking an experienced and proactive Database Administrator to manage modern database systems across the organization. The role involves maintaining database performance, building self-service tools, and enhancing observability through scripting and AI-driven automation.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage health, performance, and scalability of production databases.
  • Configure and maintain dashboards and alerts using DataDog, Grafana, and Cloudwatch.
  • Leverage Atmos and Git for infrastructure automation.
  • Design and implement automation scripts and AI-driven tools.
  • Ensure database security, availability, disaster recovery, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with developers and DevOps for CI/CD workflows.
  • Provide expertise in AWS-native databases, MongoDB, and Cassandra.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience in production environments.
  • Expertise in SQL optimization, indexing, partitioning, clustering, and replication with MySQL.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS database services including Aurora, RDS, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with MongoDB and Apache Cassandra in high-volume setups.
  • Knowledge of Atmos, Git, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Proficient in Linux/Unix, scripting (Bash, Python), and automation tasks.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation.
