Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct rehabilitation care to patients referred by a physician, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements
- NBCOT certified upon hire; renewal is optional going forward.
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT).
- Currently registered/licensed in the applicable state and must maintain an active license in good standing.
- One (1) year of experience preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current.
Specific Job Requirements
- Participate in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Liaise with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs.
- Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines for post-acute care facilities.
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional working relationships with all associates and vendors.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training.
Essential Functions
- Follow occupational treatment plans for patients (e.g., activities of daily living).
- Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals.
- Oversee and evaluate care provided by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students.
- Chart appropriately and timely.
- Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately.
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
- Assist in the evacuation of patients.
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
- Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and good judgment.
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
