LGC’s Diagnostics & Genomics Division develops and manufactures a comprehensive portfolio of diagnostic quality solutions and component materials. Our Genomic business offers products, services, and expert support across the entire genomic workflow, including nucleic acid sample preparation, oligos, probes, primers, sequencing cloning, protein expression, PCR instruments, reagents and consumables.

We collaborate with IVD assay developers, pharmaceutical companies, CROs and academic institutions from early-stage research to routine clinical use, ensuring accurate and reliable diagnostic results.

Position Summary

The Commercial Application Scientist role supports revenue and market development by partnering with Client Executives and assisting in account management, client discovery, and solution engineering. The role requires technical expertise in laboratory processes, scientific techniques, consultative sales skills, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Support: Provide technical sales assistance, develop proposals, and create detailed value propositions.
  • Solution Engineering: Identify client requirements, test assays, and coordinate with technical teams.
  • Industry & Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date insight on market trends, laboratory technologies, and competitor offerings.
  • Other Duties: Assist with additional corporate initiatives as requested.

Qualifications

A PhD in biosciences or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required along with at least 2 years of market-facing experience in laboratory environments. Candidates should have familiarity with laboratory processes, experience in genotyping, chemistry, NGS, and technical sales support. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also needed along with strong client and communication skills.
