Overview
As a Summer Intern, you will perform programming and conceptual design tasks through preparation of contract documents under the direct supervision of one or more registered architects. Tasks will be in support of architectural projects related to new construction, renovation, and tenant improvement work.
Responsibilities
Summer Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing architectural design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. Summer Interns perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more registered architects and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments include programming, space planning, participating in the design process, preparing design presentations to communicate ideas to clients, and producing deliverable drawing sets for floor plans, roof plans, building and wall sections, details and schedules.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting in designing and specifying project-appropriate architecture requirements.
- Performing Revit modeling and detailing.
- Assisting in conducting site investigations and observations.
- Assisting in preparing narratives, architectural graphics, design presentations, boards, drawing and specification documents in accordance with high quality, project schedule, and budget constraints.
- Assisting in performing cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
- Maintaining knowledge of current industry trends on space, function, materials, sustainability, etc.
- Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities.
Requirements
- Must be working towards graduation of an accredited Architecture degree.
- Proficiency with computer software including Revit Architecture, Rhino, Grasshopper, Sketch-Up, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
- Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
- Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.
Benefits & Compensation
The hourly range for this position varies between $20.00 – $25.00, depending upon applicable experience.
