About the Traveling Welder Role
VLI is hiring Journeyman and entry level Traveling Welders to join their Field Department for full time travel assignments across the US and possibly overseas. The role involves supporting repair, maintenance and installation projects including USAF Noise Suppressors, engine test cells, and hush houses.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a small Contract Field Team
- Support welding, structural repairs, and blueprint reading
- Assist multiple trades including electrician, ironworker, and sheet metal worker
- Travel across the US with reliable personal transportation
- Contribute to steel erection, maintenance, and refurbishment projects
Benefits and Requirements
Travel expenses and per diem are provided. A minimum of five years' experience is required for Journeyman consideration; entry level positions are available for candidates with general industrial construction knowledge. Must pass a background check for access to US military installations. Competitive wages, benefits, holiday, vacation time, and fringes are offered under the Service Contract Act.
