The Opportunity: Traveling Welder
VLI is seeking dedicated Journeyman and entry-level Traveling Welders to join our Field Department. This role requires full-time travel across the U.S. and potentially overseas, working effectively within small Contract Field Teams. You will be instrumental in supporting vital Air Force infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform combination welding, focusing on structural elements for noise suppressors.
- Support repair, maintenance, and installation projects for USAF Engine Test Cells and Hush Houses.
- Collaborate with a small field team, adapting to various project needs and locations.
- Read and interpret blueprints accurately to guide construction and repair tasks.
- Contribute to projects involving structural ironwork, sheet metal work, mechanical/millwright installation, and more.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Welder, with a minimum of five years' experience required for Journeyman consideration.
- General knowledge of industrial construction; experience with steel erection and refurbishment preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints is essential.
- Reliable transportation for travel within the Continental U.S.
- Ability to pass a background check for access to US military and other customer installations.
- Willingness to travel full-time domestically and internationally.
