Role Overview: Spanish Latam Language Specialist

Thermo Fisher Scientific Language Services is seeking a highly skilled Spanish Latam Language Specialist in Latin America. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in clinical translation and quality assurance to join our internal team. This specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest linguistic quality across various critical documents.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the final quality of assigned translations, upholding exceptional quality standards.
  • Effectively run and maintain language assets, including translation memories, terminology databases, and style guides.
  • Perform occasional linguistic tasks such as initial translation, thorough revision, and implementation of client feedback.
  • Execute precise quality checks on clinical translations, including Informed Consent Forms (ICFs), protocols, Investigator Brochures (IBs), and patient diaries.
  • Develop and continuously maintain comprehensive terminology and style guides specifically for the Spanish Latam language.
  • Ensure that Spanish Latam translation memories are consistently updated and optimized.
  • Establish and execute linguistic quality assurance processes for the assigned language on a global scale as required.
  • Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) technology to monitor the quality of outsourced language translations and external suppliers.
  • Analyze identified language quality issues and actively collaborate with the project management team on quality improvement plans.

Educational and Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in translations, linguistics, or language studies with significant translation coursework from a recognized higher education institution.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Native Language: Spanish (any Latin American variant).
  • CAT/TMS Tool Experience: Required.
  • Terminology and TM Experience: Proven experience required.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven skills in multi-tasking, time management, organization, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office suite.
