Job Description: Spanish Latam Language Specialist

Thermo Fisher Scientific Language Services is seeking a Spanish Latam Language Specialist with experience in clinical translation and quality assurance to join its internal team. Essential functions for this role include:

  • Coordinating and managing the final quality of assigned translations to ensure a high standard.
  • Running language assets, such as translation memories, terminology, and style guides.
  • Performing occasional linguistic tasks including initial translation, revision, and client feedback implementation.
  • Performing quality checks on clinical translations (ICFs, protocols, IBs, patient diaries, etc.).
  • Developing and maintaining terminology and style guides for the Spanish Latam language.
  • Ensuring Spanish Latam translation memories are updated.
  • Setting and executing linguistic quality assurance processes for the assigned language globally as required.
  • Using CAT technology to monitor the quality of outsourced language translations and external suppliers.
  • Analyzing language quality issues and collaborating on quality improvement plans with the project management team.

Educational & Professional Requirements

Applicants should meet the following educational/professional requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in translations, linguistics, or language studies with significant translation studies from a recognized higher education institution.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

  • Native Language: Spanish – any Latin American variant.
  • CAT/TMS Tool Experience Required.
  • Proven Terminology and TM experience required.
  • Proven skills of multi-tasking, time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
