Spanish Latam Language Specialist Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific Language Services is seeking a Spanish Latam Language Specialist with expertise in clinical translation and quality assurance to join their internal team. This role is crucial for maintaining high-quality linguistic standards across Latin American Spanish content.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the final quality of assigned translations, ensuring high standards.
• Manage language assets including translation memories, terminology, and style guides.
• Perform occasional linguistic tasks like initial translation, revision, and client feedback implementation.
• Execute quality checks on clinical translations (e.g., ICFs, protocols, IBs, patient diaries).
• Develop and maintain comprehensive terminology and style guides for Spanish Latam.
• Ensure Spanish Latam translation memories are consistently updated.
• Establish and implement linguistic quality assurance processes for the assigned language globally.
• Utilize CAT technology to monitor the quality of outsourced language translations and external suppliers.
• Analyze language quality issues and collaborate on quality improvement plans with the project management team.

Educational and Professional Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in translations, linguistics, or language studies with significant translation coursework from a recognized higher education institution.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Native proficiency in Spanish, specifically a Latin American variant.
• Required experience with CAT/TMS tools.
• Proven experience with terminology management and translation memory (TM).
• Demonstrated skills in multi-tasking, time management, organization, and attention to detail.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite.

Work Environment

This is an on-site position with a standard Monday-Friday work schedule in an office environment.
