Job Description

Software Tester Intern at Leidos

Leidos is seeking a dedicated Software Tester Intern to join our Agile DevOps team starting in the summer of 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Quality Assurance and development teams, ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our complex ICAM program. You will be instrumental in identifying and resolving software issues within a DevOps framework, contributing significantly throughout the software development lifecycle. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, exploring system functionalities, and proactively addressing potential user issues.

The anticipated intern program dates are May 19, 2026 – August 8, 2026. During this period, you must be available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute test cases across web, mobile, or desktop applications.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs using industry-standard tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Issues.
  • Assist in regression, functional, and exploratory testing efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to reproduce and resolve identified defects.
  • Participate actively in daily standups and various sprint activities.
  • Contribute to enhancing test documentation and improving existing processes.
  • Support the Agile software development lifecycle, adhering to Program SAFE practices.
  • Communicate essential project data to team members, fostering cohesion and effectiveness.
  • Participate in Leidos-sponsored intern activities, which include travel to Leidos Headquarters in Reston, VA, and the Team Office in Chantilly, VA.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Computer Science or another STEM field.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Java, Bash, or SOAP UI.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ICAM services.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices.
  • Basic knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).
  • Local to the Northern Virginia area to participate in Team Events in person.
