As a Software Engineering Intern for Agentic Sales Coach, you will play a crucial role in optimizing and advancing a live AI-powered learning tool. This involves defining new features and capabilities, collaborating with teammates, and driving innovation. You will apply your passion for product quality by supporting ongoing development through telemetry, evaluation tooling, user feedback insights, and rigorous testing. This role requires learning and adopting new AI technologies, tools, methods, and processes, while also considering the impact of AI and applying Microsoft's responsible AI practices. This internship offers a unique opportunity to design, develop, and test next-generation products and agents that empower individuals and organizations worldwide.

This is a 100% remote position, available from any US-based location, for an 8-week program starting June 15, 2026, and concluding August 7, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Apply sound and creative engineering principles to solve complex problems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define user requirements for new features.
  • Quickly learn and integrate new engineering methods into work processes.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and teamwork skills in completing engineering assignments.
  • Review current build processes and proactively seek improvements in product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance, while ensuring consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  • Implement Microsoft's Responsible AI practices and utilize structured feedback loops to refine AI learning experiences, including testing features, identifying usability improvements, and providing clear recommendations for Copilot experiences.
  • Participate in a cross-group project, conducting structured teardowns to identify issues, opportunities, and recommend improvements across end-to-end experiences.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field during the academic term immediately preceding the internship.
  • Must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate studies.
  • One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with AI/ML projects, such as developing machine learning models, working with large datasets, or implementing AI solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Experience using AI tools for project generation (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude code, Microsoft Roo Code) and understanding their strengths and limitations.
  • Experience working cross-team, collaborating, prioritizing tasks, and working independently.
