Let’s Talk About The Role: Senior Buyer

As a Senior Buyer, you will serve as the Project Procurement Lead, supporting the Regional Sourcing operation to ensure a continuous supply of goods, services, and external labor. Your work will adhere to field services’ requirements, EHS, and Quality standards, while maintaining competitive costs.

Your responsibilities will include developing strategies for commodity categories, supporting purchased labor and material needs, analyzing and communicating supplier market trends, and managing supplier engagements. You will foster strong interdepartmental relationships and lead sourcing/purchasing process improvement initiatives and supplier corrective actions. You will also develop alternative suppliers for assigned commodities and subregions, driving key performance indicators to meet annual goals. There may be opportunities to manage and develop assigned Buyers and ensure their metrics are achieved.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash metrics for your subregion, ensuring compliance with Sourcing policies.
  • Manage and develop assigned Buyers, overseeing their associated metrics.
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies for assigned categories, communicating these to subregion teams and the Events team.
  • Implement long-term agreements (MSAs, SOWs) with strategic suppliers using FieldCore templates, ensuring compliance.
  • Support supplier development initiatives and lead projects collaboratively with other functions (e.g., Productivity, Value Stream).
  • Deliver cost targets by sending RFQs and quoting PLM demands.
  • Manage demand requests for assigned SMs in the subregion, ensuring all details and scopes are addressed per business policy and SM Workbench is utilized.
  • Understand JCE/budgets for PLM demands, focusing on driving costs below budget and collaborating with SMs for future improvements.
  • Ensure consistent RFQ processes and templates are used, working with Sourcing Managers to enhance them.
  • Closely monitor all assigned projects, taking appropriate action for successful completion.
  • Work with Sourcing Managers to ensure proper contracts are in place before engaging new suppliers.
  • Award business to preferred, approved, and qualified suppliers, ensuring appropriate contracts/PO language is in place and complying with the “No PO, No Pay” policy.
  • Support Sourcing Managers in developing commodity strategies, utilizing these strategies to quote subregion PLM demands.

Skills For Success

You are a purchasing professional with strong knowledge of sourcing practices and procedures, including supplier negotiation techniques, spend analysis, and category analytics. Furthermore, you will:

  • Be skillful in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, both internally and externally with suppliers.
  • Possess strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and creative thought processing skills.
  • Have demonstrated success in achieving cost reductions.
  • Own advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Be proficient in English.

While a University Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Finance is a plus, your total experience and professional achievements are paramount.
