The Role of a Regional Director of Human Resources at Legends Global

As the Regional Director of Human Resources (RHRD), you will partner with senior leaders across multiple properties, providing strategic advice to maximize organizational effectiveness and performance. This role provides expert recommendations, counsel, and coaching to senior leaders, managers, and employees (union and non-union) on a wide array of employee-related issues, including performance management, documentation, progressive discipline, career development, employee relations, policy adherence, and compliance with employment/labor laws.

You will proactively anticipate labor and employee relations issues, offering counsel to resolve them. This position provides day-to-day HR support to venue HR teams in the West Region within the Hospitality division and serves as the primary HR support for smaller venues. A critical aspect of this role is building organizational bench strength through strategic identification, recruitment, and development of high-potential talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staffing & Retention: Develop comprehensive staffing plans aligned with evolving business needs. Attract, select, onboard, and retain a diverse, high-performing workforce. Partner with regional leadership and General Managers to ensure seamless onboarding for seasonal staff. Develop robust succession plans for critical roles and targeted development plans for top talent.
  • Organizational Development: Ensure talent development within the organization meets current and future business leadership requirements. Collaborate with business leads to define and implement the training and development agenda.
  • Talent Management: Oversee the performance review process. Partner with business leads to ensure employees understand broader organizational and individual priorities. Foster a continuous feedback culture. Review, guide, and approve management recommendations for employment terminations.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a dedicated employee advocate, ensuring employee impact is carefully considered in all business decisions.
  • Business Partnership: Successfully collaborate with venue General Managers and other regional and venue operations leaders to solve employee and operational challenges.
  • Labor (unions and third-party management): Establish, negotiate, and maintain long-term labor relations strategies that support business objectives while cultivating an environment of trust. Ensure all appropriate policies and processes are in place to meet legal obligations, minimize organizational risk, and provide a safe and secure work environment. Prepare information as requested or required for compliance with all state and federal laws. Participate in grievance, arbitration, and contract negotiation proceedings.

Supervisory Responsibilities

You will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty at the highest level. The requirements outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skill, and ability.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year College or University or equivalent education and work experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ human resources experience is ideal, preferably within a high-volume environment.
  • Experience in a union work environment is preferred, but not strictly required.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team of HR direct reports.

Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence others.
  • Capacity to make decisions quickly, coupled with a high level of maturity.
  • Extensive employee relations experience, including conducting investigations and resolving grievances.
  • Outstanding leadership skills, with a high capacity for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence and gain credibility across all levels of employees, management, union representatives, and clients.
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized, with the ability to quickly learn new programs and procedures.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $130,000 - $145,000, plus bonus potential, commensurate with experience. A generous benefits package is provided, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and a 401k plan.

Working Conditions & Travel

This role is remote/hybrid when not traveling and is based in the West Region, not requiring relocation. Travel up to 50% of the year is expected, particularly during new business transitions, venue openings, and major operational initiatives.
