Position Overview
The Records Clerk at Records Clerk is responsible for creating, receiving, processing, maintaining, retrieving, and retiring shipping (manifest) records. This role supports large-scale government operations through effective record management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and distribute paper shipping records, electronic data files, and electronic data uploads. Record information in logs and automated tracking systems. Scan, check in/out, transfer, retire, and recycle files. Research information systems and aids to locate files. Organize, describe, label, and interfile documents as needed. Retrieve and process files for delivery. Maintain files by removing duplicates, updating folders, and redistributing materials. Prepare files for transfer or retirement by labeling, listing, boxing, and processing them. Conduct regular shelf reading and quality control inventories. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED equivalent; 6+ months computer terminal and scanner experience; valid driver’s license; background check required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Filing procedures understanding, ability to maintain files accurately, strong numerical, alphabetical, and chronological sequencing skills, proficient typing, ability to work individually or in teams, effective communication in English, and calm crisis management.
